In the opening ceremony on August 1st, the deputy chairperson of SSSION distributed tailoring essentials such as threads, scissors, measuring tapes, marking chalk, needles, etc. to each trainee. At the end of the opening ceremony, prasadam and photo of Bhagawan Baba were distributed. A total of 12 Sai volunteers and 5 local volunteers were present during the opening ceremony. On the same occasion at another place, 48 inmates of a prison at Simalchaur, Pokhara were given the gifts of bangles, beads etc. The love and care with which the Sai sevadal served reminded the inmates of the good old days that brought tears in the eyes of some. It was a regular program organized by the local training hub of the National Center for Educational Development (NCED), an apex body of government for teacher’s training under the Ministry of Education. The SSSIO Nepal has an agreement with NCED to facilitate EHV component of the NCED Teacher’s Training Program. The training contents focused on the need and methods of values-based education in contemporary times. A four hour long program was attended by 2000 people in a jammed hall of Nepal Academy. The program began with Omkar, Gayatri and Veda chanting and ended with MangalArati to Bhagawan. This is the third residential Guru Training Program by the ISSEN. Altogether 62 participants including non-devotee school teachers and SSION devotees participated in the program to become SSE Gurus. The program was inaugurated by the President of the SSSIO Nepal. The programme received high appreciation by the participants. The participants particularly coming from private schools, who were not sai devotees, felt fortunate to be the part of the program. Two of them speaking during the concluding session expressed their commitment to use the learning in day to day life. They also urged the fellow participants to make the program more fruitful by conducting SSE classes and helping children to imbibe values. The program came to end with certificate distribution and mangalaarati. All the teachers were very appreciative of the program with comments about the efficacy of such training programs which they suggested ought to have been given to them much earlier. One of the participants even said that before he sat in the program he had misconception that it was a purely religious program that included bhajan, and talks on the teachings of Bhagavan Baba. But later he found the program highly educative; relevant to the present context and so very useful. The program came to an end with mangal aarati by the District Education Officer, who was also the chief guest. Spiritual and Service Name of the Event Date(s) of Event (DD/MM/YYYY) Mahashivaratri Celebrations 7-Mar-16 No. of SSIO Volunteers Involved No. of Non Members Involved  No of People Served/ Attendees 300 50 508 Activity/Event Summary: Maha Shivaratri was celebrated on 7 March 2016 by Sai Centers throughout Nepal with the usual devotional fervor.  Most of the Sai Centers kept an all night vigil by performing non-stop akhanda bhajans for 12 hours starting at 6 PM and continuing until 6 AM of the next day. Every year, more than half a million devotees both from India and different parts of Nepal throng the Pashupatinath temple on this auspicious day to pay their homage to Sri Rudra.  The temple premise is crowded neck to neck on the day and devotees often queue for hours at an end to catch a glimpse of the Shiva Linga, the Sanctum Sanctorum. The SSIO Nepal organized public bhajans in the premise of temple on an eve of Shivaratri where 400 devotees participated on the devotional singing.SSIO Nepal conducted the medical camp and water distribution at Pashupatinath temple. During the medical camp, a team of 40 members including doctors and paramedical staffs provided service to 508 patients. Out of 19 patients, who were diagnosed with cataract, were provided with free treatment in an eye hospital. Similarly, One patient diagnosed with hydrocil (psyllium) too was provided with free treatment on a later date. Water Distribution consisted round the clock serving by 250 volunteers to the devotees standing in a queue hours together to have a glimpse of the santorum. The program was inaugurated by the District Education Officer of the district. She sat all through the program and was highly appreciative with the contents of the training program. One of the participants, who was also the principal of a school, said that he felt himself very fortunate to attend the program. The other participant said that the training will be fruitful when all the teachers will be able to implement the teachings learnt during this period in day to day life. He also said that if the teachers will be successful in practicing values in and outside school they will be able to produce children with human excellence. The program came to end with mangal aarati by the District Education Officer. The Seva Griha has been running in a rental premises and is currently sheltering 17 girl children. The land is donated by a young Sai devotee in memory of his late mother, who was very keen to help the children.  The land is close to the present rental. The neighbours too were very happy to find the Bal Seva Griha in their locality and they have decided to name the street as Sai Marga (Sai Lane).  The program, attended by 150 devotees and local people, came to an end with the mangal aarati of Bhagavan. The chief guest of the programme, a district educational officer from Nepal governemnt after attended the entire program and remarked amidst various professional courses, values have lost the essence and what society is deprived today is the skilled personals with clean heart and good character. He highlighted the role of values to create a harmonious society and advised the participating teachers to start integrating values in their respective lessons immediately.

The devastating earthquake on 25th April 2015 and subsequent aftershocks have left thousand homeless. Scores of families live under a thin tents, tarpaulins and such temporary shelter which gets completely covered by snow at night. Many families battle every night with cold for life. With insufficient warm clothes and blankets, majority are falling sick.  Seeing this plight, On 1st of January 2016 youths from SSIO Nepal served mattresses, blankets and clothes to 588 households of four different wards of Gumdi village of Dhading district,148 km away from Kathmandu.  The place was just 58.8 km away from the highway, however because of the dangerous and rough terrain it almost took 8 hours to reach Gumdi Village.  The 13 college students (youth from outside organisation) accompanying sai youth voluntters were highly inspired and encouraged to be part of it. The beneficiaries hard hit by the massive earthquake of 2015 were touched by the token of love. The volunteers expressed their gratitude to Bhagvan to having given this opportunity to serve the needy. The director of the institute highlighted the need for human valuesin medical education, the process of integrating human values in medical and non-medical courses. He also discussed on essentials of self-management as a tool for blossoming human excellence for each individuals including medical professionals. Bhutanese participants have requested to conduct similar program in Bhutan. After finding out a condition from national newspaper, the SSIO Nepal served blankets, matress and clothes to 827 families of most affected Sindhupalchowk District about 140 kms away from Kathmandu. Four loaded trucks accompanied by Sai Youths travelled around 23 hours partly on steep hilly roads and partly on foot to reach the beneficiaries. ]]>
