Sai Baba’s mission is to help each individual find his path to a dharmic life based on the noble ideals of flawless character, humility, and selfless service; and education, or the Gyana Path, serves as an important tool in the fostering of Sai values in the community. The most important components of the Sai education system are the Education in Human Values (EHV) and the Bal Vikas/Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) programmes.
The EHV programme is non-sectarian, and teaches the five basic human values: Sathya (Truth), Dharma (Right Conduct), Prema (Love), Shanti (Peace), and Ahimsa (Non-violence).
Bal Vikas/Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) was launched in 1969 by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, as the first step of the great movement to restore the practice of Right Conduct (Dharma) in the world. It is a spiritual and moral education programme run by the Education Wing of the Sri Sathya Sai Service Organization in its centres worldwide. The aim of the programme is to enable children of all faiths to manifest their own divinity, and the five teaching techniques (Prayer, Meditation, Story Telling, Group Devotional Singing, and Group Activities) are used to develop and promote the Human Values of Sathya (Truth), Dharma (Right Conduct), Prema (Love), Shanti (Peace), and Ahimsa (Non-violence).
In addition, the organization also runs programmes to train educators in EHV and SSE (Training of Trainers on EHV and SSE), various cultural programmes, and an annual competition of Bal Vikas students.
